People You Meet on the Internet are Real People

Hi folks! Welcome to the internet!

A little while back I had the displeasure of having a serious disagreement with one of the people I talk to in "Farmtown", a game with a huge following on Facebook. The person said something I considered rude to a person that had came to my farm from the "Farmtown" forum.

His justification was, "What is wrong with a cartoon character saying something to another cartoon character?" After calming down a day or two, I answered him with the following:


"One thing you and everyone else on the internet need to realize, is that they are talking to REAL people behind those cartoons.

"Maybe I have been around on the internet a bit longer and seen far more things than you realize. My husband & I met on the internet actually.

"Things I have seen on the internet:

"I have seen a person leave their loving and devoted spouse for a person met on the net.

"I have seen two people leave handicapped children for a person they met on the internet. One of them more than once.

"I have seen a person almost die, because they took an overdose of pills because the person they met on on the internet came to their senses and went home to the family they left behind.

"I have seen a person get bashed to the point of suicide because of the comments make when others found out the person had aids. Never mind this person got it working in an operating room and not from being gay.

"Just cartoons it doesn't matter, right?

"These are real people with real feelings and hurt behind those funny little avatars.

"Yes some of these people had problems to begin with, but don't tell me they aren't real people.

"I have met many many people I first met on the internet. Even people who drove from Canada to meet with some of us. They were real flesh and blood people, not cartoon characters. The friendship we shared was the same in person as on the internet.

"Be careful how you treat those people, you never know..."


I know from reading the posts on Blogger that there are many, many good people out there on the internet. There is also many negative comments about the internet in the Media.

Hopefully after reading this post, you will treat people you meet on the internet like they were actually sitting in your living room with you!!

KFC Grilled Chicken

Y'all, I don't care where you live, eat, sleep or breathe, you have got to get out today and get your FREE sample of KFC's new grilled chicken.

I am passionate about many things. My kids, my home, my hubby, my car... , but I sure love to eat!!! I have had many, many servings of some good chicken. Fried. grilled, hickory smoked, barbequed, with dumplings, with rice... Well you get the idea, I don't want you to start calling me Bubba Gump!

I Like Square Butts

I could use this topic to write a very serious article about how this effects our children and the appropriateness of using a character originally targeted to children, but....

This song from the commercial just tickles every funny bone I have. I jump and twitch around in the kitchen acting totally insane and sing it for hours after the commercial is over.

It has the snappy tune and the hilarious lyrics I just can't get enuf of.

BUT!

I like nice rounded muscular butts on my man! Not the super chiseled, hard as granite butt of a body builder, (sorry Arney) but the gripable muscle of a man who works for a living.

What type of woman is this writer, you may be asking yourself? Well girls, and guys if you are reading, I am here to proclaim that:

I am a butt woman!

PROFESSIONAL “WRESTLING” and CHILD REARING

Let me begin this article with a little funny for all of us ‘non-believers.’ My grandmother, God rest her weary soul, was a huge fan of Wrestling. She watched it every time she got the chance, bought books about the wrestlers and couldn’t understand, “Why that ref let that big boy beat on that little bitty ‘fella’ ”. My aunt told me one time Grandma told her she just didn’t understand why there wasn’t EVER anything during the Sports section of the nightly news about Wrestling. My reaction was, “DUH, it isn’t a real sport”.

I remember watching Bruno Samartino, Haystacks Calhoun and Bobo Brazil as a young child, but after visiting with Grandma, my husband got the Wrestling bug again. He watches two or three times a week and I goof around on the computer while enduring the sounds of “entertainment”.

I also remember the pride I felt as a mother of a high school wrestler who learned what REAL wrestling was about.

A few weeks ago something happened that just, pardon the phrase, griped my rear end. Rick Flair and Chris Jericho have been “feuding”, as the staged feuding goes in Wrestling. After mouthing off at each other for a bit, Jericho physically attacked Flair beating him brutally. Flair was bleeding from his forehead and blood was all over his face. As the cameras panned the audience, there were many parents with young children in the crowd.

What are these parents thinking? They bring the kids to see this stuff and then wonder why “little Johnny” gets in trouble for beating up kids at school. The parents are creating “heroes” out of these wrestlers that are demonstrating severe cruelty in the name of sports.

It was bad enough about a year or so ago when Mr. McMahon bared his behind and forced wrestlers to kiss his buttocks. I was appalled! In the front of thousands of children in person and on tv. (Granted this is my guesstimate).

I put a challenge out to ALL parents who expose their children to this violence, fake or not, you decide, to educate and guide those same children with daily doses of such abstract things such as manners, reality versus “TV reality”, and being responsible for their actions.

I also challenge the Producers and members of “TV Wrestling” to donate a minimum of 10% of the proceeds they receive to Child Development Programs around the country. They are helping to create some of the problems our children face, let us see if they can put their almighty dollars to work to correct some of them.
